History comes alive this summer at New Milford Public Library!
We are celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary with REV 250—a series of exciting events, hands-on workshops, and a special traveling exhibit running from July 2nd through August 11th. We have something for everyone:
“Revolutionary Lives” Exhibit: Opening Reception and Presentation
Thursday. July 30 at 6pm – 7:30pm
Join us for the opening of the exhibit, Revolutionary Lives: Living the American Experiment Then and Now. Joseph Cook, historian, history teacher and member of the New Milford Historic Preservation Commission, will open the reception with a presentation on the American Revolution in New Jersey to be followed by a light reception and a viewing of the exhibit. Hosted in partnership with the New Milford Historic Preservation Commission and New Milford’s Rev 250 Committee.

USA Party – Thursday, July 2 at 3pm
Let’s celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! The event will include patriotic themed stations, such as a craft and bingo! (Children ages 4 years – 11 years)

Teen Candle Making – Monday, August 3 at 4pm
We’re celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a hands-on candle making program. Join us for an afternoon of fun, no prior experience necessary. This program is open to students in grades 6-12 (incoming middle schoolers welcome!)

Wool Spinning Workshop – Tuesday, August 11 at 6pm
Take a step back in time to learn how to spin wool with fiber artist Reilly Grant of Clover Folk Studio! This hands-on class will teach you about fiber arts from sheep to shawl. Join us to learn how to prepare wool for spinning, watch a demonstration on a spinning wheel, and get the chance to try for yourself. No experience necessary.
